HTC Touch Cruise specially draw one’s attention by its integrated GPS and TomTom navigation software. The QuickGPS utility can help speed up GPS acquisition by downloading the latest satellite data from the web. This is a good news for GPS enabled smartphone user’s who have to rely on third party software or subscribe to a location based service, along with these Touch Cruise also offers color maps, turn by turn driving directions, search point of interest and other feature which come with a standalong GPS device. TomTom portable navigation user’s will find the interface to be familiar but for new user’s its not a pain to get accustom to the application easily. However one gets one city map free and for other regional maps one has to pay an extra fee.
The Touch cruise has integrated Wi-Fi and 3G support more specifically the phone operates on UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900 Mhz band, currently AT&T network supports 3.5G speeds which should get the data at around 400 - 700Kbps using AT&T’s network. The quad-band Touch Cruise offer world roaming, a speakerphone, smart dialling, voice commands, three-way calling, call forwarding, text SMS and MMS, the address book can store multiple numbers for each enty, home and work addresses, email, IM, birthday, spouse’s name and much more. It also has support for Bluetootk headsets and hand free kits, serial port, dial up networking and Bluetooth 2.0.
The Touch Cruise comes with Windows Mobile 6 Professional Edition, Office Mobile suite, PDF reader, Mirosoft’s Direct Push technology, real-time email delivery and automatic synchronisation with Outlook calendar, tasks and contact via Exchange Server. The smartphone also supports POP3 and IMAP accounts. Other PIM tools include Adobe Reader LE, a calculator, a notepad, an RSS hub, a voice recorder, and a calculator.
The Touch Cruise is equipped with a 3-megapixel camera with 4x zoom and video recording capabilities. Still images can be captured in one of three resolutions and one of four picture qualities. You get standard tools, such as white balance settings, brightness controls, and effects, as well as a self-timer, flicker adjustment, auto focus, and time stamp. In video mode, you have four resolution options and can adjust white balance and brightness.
